PSCCU is pleased to announce the opening of its newest branch, located in the Post Office building at 221 A Street in Eastsound, Orcas Island. This expansion marks a meaningful milestone in PSCCU's ongoing commitment to bringing ethical, people-first banking to areas that share those values.

Similar to the circumstances on Vashon Island more than 15 years ago, the idea of opening a branch on Orcas was brought to the credit union leadership team by residents who noted that there were no credit unions on the island. In 2021, the credit union purchased the building that houses the Post Office in Eastsound, the heart of the island’s business district. The location was chosen for its proximity to the town’s main public park and gathering space. Since the purchase, the credit union has made substantial investments in the property; exterior improvements will continue in the coming months.
"PSCCU is a natural fit for Orcas Island — a community that shares our commitment to sustainability and looking out for one another. Expanding here is something we've been looking forward to since purchasing the building in 2021, and we're committed to being a financial resource islanders can rely on," said Brandy McBride, CEO of PSCCU. "We're not just opening a branch — we're making a long-term investment in the island community."
Orcas Island is home to a thriving, close-knit community and beautiful landscape. The Eastsound branch will operate year-round, offering the full range of PSCCU's financial products and services to both permanent island residents and the many visitors who make Orcas Island their summer destination.
It is expected that PSCCU’s focus on environmentally sustainable loans — including solar installations, energy-efficiency improvements, emergency backup generators, and electric vehicles and home charging stations — will serve the isolated community well. These services offer island residents affordable solutions that reflect the realities of island life while protecting the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands.
PSCCU looks forward to serving individuals as well as the many small businesses, sole proprietors, and self-employed islanders who make up a vital part of the Orcas Island economy. The new branch will offer a night drop plus business checking and saving accounts tailored to the needs of small organizations (including LLCs, associations and clubs, charitable events, and benevolent accounts).
PSCCU is a member of the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce and is committed to being an active part of island life. Similar to the Vashon Island branch, the Orcas location will feature a dedicated area to showcase artwork by local artists, giving them a welcoming venue to display and sell their work. Artists interested in showing their pieces are invited to contact the credit union at Orcas@psccu.org.
