15 YEARS SERVING OUR ISLAND COMMUNITY
Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union is proud to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its branch on Vashon Island, marking a decade and a half of community connection, member service, and shared values.

Since opening its doors in 2011, the PSCCU Vashon branch has reflected the island’s tight-knit sense of community, passionate support for local business, and strong commitment to the environment—values that closely align with the credit union’s mission. When it opened, PSCCU was the only credit union branch on the island, despite many Vashon residents already belonging to credit unions.

The idea to open a branch came directly from within the cooperative itself. When the credit union was looking to expand its footprint, Bill Moyer, a member of the credit union and volunteer on the Board of Directors who lived on Vashon, suggested the island as the perfect choice for another location. Rob Harmon recognized the need for a local, values-driven financial institution and championed the effort to bring a branch to the island.

Fifteen years later, the Vashon branch is thriving.“The success of our Vashon branch is everything we hoped for and more,” said PSCCU CEO Brandy McBride. “From the beginning, this branch was built on listening to members and honoring the unique character of the island. Seeing it grow into one of our strongest branches is incredibly rewarding and reaffirms our belief in community-led decisions.”

The branch’s success is driven not only by member loyalty, but also by the relationships formed every day inside the branch.

“Our members aren’t just account numbers—they’re our neighbors,” said Vashon Branch Manager Sandy Gilliam. “Being able to build real, personal relationships and see the impact of our work in the community makes this job incredibly meaningful for our entire team.”

As PSCCU celebrates this milestone, the credit union looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Vashon community—supporting local businesses and non-profits, promoting financial well-being, and investing in a sustainable future for years to come.
